Lake Mohawk Golf Club Minutes of the Meeting held October 12, 2009
The meeting was called to order at the conclusion of the Banquet meal by President Don Franz.
Elected Board Members in attendance were Don Franz, Sam Brown, Norm Mankins and Gary Schmucker, Executive Board Members Ron Lewis and Gary Willen. Club Manager Bill Davidson did not attend. There were 46 Club members also in attendance.
President Franz thanked the volunteers and Officers, Alison McLaughlin for website work and advertisement sales and the hole in one/closest to pin volunteers. He stated that 2009 was a great year for the Golf course not only in the amount of play but also in the improvements to the course and clubhouse. We also had the youth Golf camp, new logo balls, new scorecards, new bridge and bench advertisement. The Clubhouse and Maintenance building were painted this year by volunteers and the LMPOA Maintenance Staff. Don recognized the new 2010 Officers and the greens keeping staff and Club Manager.
Treasurer Norm Mankins gave the following financial report: This is an abbreviated report that reflects on the past, present, and the future. September 2009 September 2008
Beginning Balance $ 26,343.22 $ 8,070.96 Income 3,876.50 2,561.99 Expenses 5,833.06 3,690.71 Net - 1,956.56 - 1,128.72
Balance $ 24,386.66 $ 6,942.24
Why the big difference in the balance this year compared to last year? Here are the reasons:
1. We had an increase in dues. 2. CH wages decreased from 13,906.79 in 2008 to 6,960.87 in 2009. Reason for this decrease is really two fold. Gary and Sam took over the complete operation and management of the CH and I assumed the responsibilities and duties of the Treasurer. We no longer had to pay anyone to perform these duties, which are a vital part of the smooth operation of the club. 3. The course wages remained about the same this year as they were last $10,313 in 2008 and $10,818 this year 2009. 4. We did not reconnect to Warner Cable this year which also saved us $516.00. 5. Our total income for 2008 was $53,129.90 compared to $72,076.21 this year 2009. Expenses for 2008 were $62,225.16 leaving us with a net income of -$9,095.26 and a balance of only $643.94 at the end of 2008. 6. Our expenses to date this year are $48,333.49 giving us a net income of $23,742.72 as of September 30, 2009. 7. Much of this income increase is due to the initiation of the dues increase, several scrambles, closest to the pin contest, 50/50 drawings, and the sale of shirts and golf bags which all totaled about $3,000 of additional dollars in revenue.
So in essence we had a pretty good year. The weather cooperated most of the summer and on weekends and holidays we were able to bring in some serious revenue for the club. I would personally like to thank all of you for your continued support by being a card carrying member, your participation in the scrambles, and in addition all the volunteer work done on the course and around the clubhouse. If wasn’t for you the members and your contributions and participation in all the events sponsored by the club it would have been impossible for us to have experienced such an enjoyable year. We are very grateful for your involvement, dedication and willingness to help make this golf club such a great asset to our lake community. Thanks again for every thing and we hope that you will continue to join and support the golf club in the coming years.
Vice President Brown commented on the success of the Couples Scrambles that the Golf Club sponsored. VP Brown also stated that we would be applying a dandelion treatment soon.
